WE DO WRESTLE – WWE Warfare
My son loves the WWE. As I sit and attempt to watch it with him and stomach the grappling of opponents attempts to throw, pin or even headlock in this sport I noticed something.
Wrestlers use a combination of attacks, holds, and throws while competing in a wrestling match. Depending on the size or build of one’s opponent measures the tactics they will use to attempt to bring each other down. You have your lightweight, welterweight, and heavy weight.
The definition of wrestle according to Webster is: to fight (someone) by holding and pushing instead of by hitting, kicking, or punching or to struggle to move, deal with, or control something.
As I began to go over this term in my mind, Ephesians 6:12 came to thought: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the
darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
We understand that our fight is not against people (flesh and blood) but we do have to wrestle with those in the rest of the scripture:
1. Principalities, – Heavy Weight
2. Powers,- Light Heavy Weight
3. Rulers – Welter Weight
4. Spiritual wickedness) – Light Weight
In Genesis 32 it is noted that Jacob wrestled with the angel now for all points and purposes angels are not flesh and blood. In this short bout with the angel of the Lord Jacob gives us insight that wrestling is necessary to get what belongs to you.
In the book of Daniel, Michael the archangel signifies that wrestling was going on in the spiritual realm so that the answer Daniel had prayed for could get into the natural realm where Daniel was.
Bottom line is that you have to wrestle to get what belongs to you. The enemy is not going to just let it go.
You have to use wrestling terms to wrestle, these are a few wrestling moves I found that are appropriate concerning spiritual warfare: you have to Big Boot (go for the head, binding the strongman or principalities), TIE UP(BIND), A wrestler ties up by holding a part of the opponent’s body in such a way that the opponent finds it difficult to extract himself. The body parts that are usually targeted are the arms, and the head(going for the powers and rulers).
Wrestlers are persistent to see that either they pin their opponent to the ground, or the opponent taps out. Be as persistent with the enemy as he is with you, keeping pounding him and pinning him to the ground with that Word.
Your breakthrough is dependent on it. You might be like Jacob and limp in the end but you will limp victoriously! Amen!
