You are his rib!!
The wife is defined according to the Word of God as a help meet.
Genesis 2 states that when there was no suitable help meet for him, that God did the following in Gen 2:21-24
So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs[g] and then closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib[h] he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. 23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”
24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.
I always look at it like this: when God took one of Adam’s ribs it left a gap. That gap was filled by the creation of woman. The wife therefore from creation has the power to stand in the gap for her husband as one flesh. Meaning that because of this position we can pray for our husbands in a power that no other person can. In the terms of game show talk, Wives are the missing link that have the power to stand in the gap of any area of our husbands’ lives in prayer.
Ezekiel 22:30 – “I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one.
The ribcage is a wall that protects all of the vital organs of the body from destruction. As that missing rib, God has placed us in a position to pray and protect our husbands from destruction.
1 Samuel 25 gives the story of a wife’s intercession. Abigail interceded on Nabal’s behalf and in doing so destruction to an entire community was saved. David was going to wipe out an entire household because of Nabal’s disobedience. However Nabal’s wife stood in the gap, doing what her husband should have done but because of the circumstances did not. By her doing so, destruction was prevented in her household and destiny was brought forth.
Everyone of us has a different situation that we may be facing, but wives have the most powerful position of intercession that no one else has. Nagging, begging won’t do it, but praying the Word of God will. Our main focus in prayer is “God make our husband’s in your image and your likeness, use them for your glory.” If you ask, God will show you who your husband is in Him. Intercession helps us to see them as God sees them. Jesus interceded on our behalf on the cross and with all the lashes, beatings and scourging, he stood firm to fulfill the purpose of standing in the gap.
Now, if you are in a situation of abuse, no one is saying stay there. Remove yourself and pray from a far believing that God is the God of the impossible. Is there anything to hard for the Lord?
Know that you are the designated part of the wall to stand in the gap for your husbands.” What God has joined together, let no man put asunder. Stand in the gap for them, your children and family today!
Have a blessed day!
