God’s Appointed Position in Prayer
In Judges 19 a story is displayed that I believe many people experience in some form or fashion feeling as if you are being thrown out of your spouses life for one reason or another.
Paraphrasing for time sake, a woman is betrayed by her husband to settle the desires of wicked men. All night long she is treated savagely and left for dead. With the last amount of strength she makes her way to the house where her husband is staying and falls down at the doorstep.
When her husband wakes up he opens the door to see his wife with her hands on the threshold. The husband tells her to get up but there is no answer. She dies with her hand on threshold, one step away to the other side.
Why was her husband sleeping while his wife was being brutalized? He knew that his wife was out there. Had he been awake and watching out for her maybe just maybe when his wife came to the door her life could have been spared. We learn earlier on in the chapter that she had betrayed him and returned to her fathers home where the husband went ti retrieve her. Was he seeking revenge for the betrayal he had experienced?
Regardless of what you may be experiencing in your marriage or life situations remember that vengeance belongs to God. You cannot fall asleep while your husband/wife, children and/or family are out being blinded and mistreated by the enemy. You have to pray, intercede on their behalf even at inconvenient times especially in the night season.
What if just one more prayer, one more day of fasting could keep your spouses or families hands off the threshold?
Would you keep watch to make sure that their purpose or destiny was fulfilled or that one additional prayer could save their lives from the hands of the enemy?
I know you feel like giving up. I know you feel like you can’t take one more day of the betrayal, nasty behavior or rumor regarding your situation. Just hold on, God has already answered your prayer. Don’t let your husbands, wives or families hand be left on the threshold because you fell asleep!
Daybreak of your manifestation maybe one more prayer away! Stay awake and pray!
As you read Genesis 3 you see the story of the fall of man. God questions Adam, Adam blames Eve, Eve blames the snake and the spirit of deception for taking a bite from the tree that God commanded(God’s Voice) they not eat from.
God then proceeds to deliver consequences to all parties involved.
1. God speaks to the spirit and gives it his sentence.
2. God then speaks to Eve giving her prophetic direction about her future because of her decision to listen to a spirit
3. God then tells Adam and I am paraphrasing “Because you listened to someone other than My Voice and My Direction” the thing(ground) that I brought you out of is now cursed.
The bottom line is that when God gives you a command regarding your destiny, purpose, family, marriage etc, DO NOT disobey his voice by listening to a spirit or anyone else.
Adam new the voice of The Lord because in verse 8 when they heard the sound of The Lord they went and hid themselves. The way to identify the voice of The Lord versus the voice of the enemy or spirit is by the Word of God. Always compare the voice you are hearing with God’s voice(His Word)!
The next time you are tempted to sway from the voice of The Lord, check it against His Word then you speak to the spirit that is trying to mislead you remembering that you now have power to tread upon serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy.
Never allow a spirit to speak to your destiny. The only One that can speak to your destiny and purpose is the One who wrote it! His name is Jesus!
Have you asked the Lord for instructions concerning your marriage, children or other situations and God told you to remain and not leave? Yet the other side seems blissful, less painful but quiet as its kept there is a mortgage and a water bill to pay over there also. 🙂
Read Jeremiah 42 and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you one on one!
Jeremiah 42:10 – if you remain in this land, then I will build you and not pull you down, and I will plant you and not pluck you up. For I relent concerning the disaster that I have brought upon you.
Jeremiah 42:13 –
“But if you say, ‘We will not dwell in this land,’ disobeying the voice of the Lord your God, “The Lord has said concerning you, O remnant of Judah, ‘Do not go to Egypt!’ Know certainly that I have admonished you this day. (Jeremiah 42:13, 19 NKJV)
When God says stand, listening to Him would be best and only option. 🙂
