Restoration is not immediate, it’s a process!

Many of you may be wondering what is going on as your prodigal has returned home. Things are not exactly what you had envisioned and the enemy continues to play mind games with you as to whether or not this is really God. Some issues may be lack of closeness, accountability, intimacy and the list goes on. The stander has to take into account everything that has happened whether your separation/divorce was the result of improper use of finances, abuse, infidelity, you have to take a step back and realize that something came in to destroy your marriage and that it is has to be rebuilt.

Let’s take a look at Nehemiah 1: 3b – “The survivors who are left from the captivity in the province are there in great distress and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem is also broken down, and its gates burned with fire.”

The survivors as a result of your prodigal experience are you and your spouse and children if any. You have reconciled, however the walls (the structures) of your marriage are broken down and your gates (the hedges) protecting your marriage have burned with fire. Although we have the victory we have to face the fact that the trial happened and repair needs to be completed. With that being said don’t expect that your marriage is going to be perfect from the time they walk back in the door because it’s not. You have to repair the damaged areas. We have to take the steps that Nehemiah took after he realized what had happened in 1:3b.

Nehemiah 1:4-11 (Nehemiah PRAYED) – Read in entirety when you have time and allow the Holy Spirit to show you as He showed me.

For time sake, I want to focus on vs. 8 – Remember, I pray, the word that You commanded Your servant Moses, saying, “If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations; but if you return to Me, and keep My commandments and do them though some of you were cast out to the farthest part of the heavens, yet I will gather them from there, and bring them to a place which I have chosen as a dwelling for My name.”

The first steps in restoration are reconciliation, realizing something happened, and that some areas were destroyed and then bringing God in remembrance of His Word as Nehemiah did. Pray according to Nehemiah 1:8 Lord, I obeyed your commandments and you said that if I did that though some of you( trust, love, fidelity, intimacy etc.) were cast out to the farthest part of the heavens, yet I will gather them from there, and bring them to a place which I have chosen as a dwelling for My name.

Certain areas of your marriage was scattered due to unfaithfulness to the marriage covenant, now you have to pray for God to gather those missing scattered pieces back in rebuilding your marriage as He promised due to your obedience as the stander and the obedience of the prodigal that returned home choosing God rather than the world.

Warfare doesn’t stop, it continues. Pray without ceasing.
